Story Telling Smith and Pyle Style
I am Calling Down A Blessing for the girl with the Flower In Her Hair who goes by the name of Julie Baker who is soaking her worries at Jimi’s Bar because she’s Too Damn Tired to take care of her unruly kids and they disparately need a good Spankin. Julie said to the bartender I Ain’t no princess but I’ve been kissin frogs. I need to stop drinking this beer and get me some coffee with tons of Sugar in it, so it can flow through my veins to stay up for ride home to her ungrateful husband Ron. Unbeknownst to her, the bartender Kimmy was having an affair with her husband and she turned to Julie and flat out said, “I Wish You Were Dead!” Julie sat there, thinking of her husband touch this bitches Slippery Hips and became angry at the thought of them together. Not only had he touching Kimmy’s slippery hips, he had also had his filthy hand on her Ass. Enraged, Julie stormed out and ran home to find her husband in bed with her best friend Sora. As her friend ran crying from the room, Julie shouts at her husband “Do You Ever Think Of Me!!” what is it with you and all these other women!!? Ron just stared at his wife, slapped her in the face for speaking to him the such a way. Julie was in rage she grabbed her gun off the shelf and put on a Show for the neighbors to hear by shooting his cheating ass
Then she covered his body with his Frumpy Flannel hunting shirt and ran from the house. Knowing that her husband’s spirit would never Go Rest High, she got in her truck, turned to her dog Zoey and said, I Like You Too Much to leave you here” so she put the dog in the back of the truck and left town. With a somewhat somber Anthem playing on the radio, she drove away and was never to be seen again…i guess you could say she was like Peter Pan in never never land….never to be found and never to be touched by a man again…. The End!

Wendy our Fan taped this show for us.

2009 has officially sucked balls in many many ways. I think we can all
agree that the economy has gone out of its way to give us each an
individual hand tied sack of shit. People keep shooting each other,
people keep shooting up. People shoot daggers at you for using a
plastic bag in the grocery store…
But, in 2 short days, times is gonna start changing. Why? You might
ask? Well, that is when, we, Smith and Pyle begin our 2009 live
playin. The flowers will start bloomin, the markets gonna start goin
up. People gonna start makin love and not war all over again.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. How on earth is it that the minute
you kids* start playin your desert country rock, the whole worlds
gonna start comin back in line? Well let me ask you this. When did you
stop believin? Was it after you saw Religulous? Bill Mahr’s ridiculous
movie? Don’t even get me started. Was it when your house got bought
back by the bank? Your friends house? Was it when your daddy lost his
job? When you didn’t get that part. When that beautiful woman found
someone else? When that charming boy broke your heart?
Listen the world is a sad place. It just is. But that aint all it is.
It is also a magnificently beautiful place where life is constantly
coming out of death. Where the magic and god of rebirth are plentiful.
A place where forgiveness and love can conquer hatred and death. And
if you want to, you can be happy in it. You can chose every day to
bring in light and love or darkness and sorrow. It’s your choice.
Joseph Campbell says to live joyfully in the sorrows of the world. For
in this sometimes crappy mecca, there is always joy to be found. There
are beautiful flowers growing right now in the midst of the most war
torn landscapes. Grow some in your heart. No matter what the news
tells you, the mirror tells you, the people who don’t have your best
interest at heart tell you, its OK to be happy. It just is.
Are we, Smith and Pyle going to save the world? I mean, who do we
think we are?
Why not?
Why don’t you help save the world with us? It’s a whole lot more fun
than sitting around crying about it. Wake up. Get out of bed. Put on a
shirt that makes you feel pretty. Go for a walk. Talk to a stranger.
Save your money! Don’t spend it on shit that won’t make you happy
anyway. Go fly a kite. Or pass a football. Or run up a hill. Or pick
some wild flowers. Or dance with your kid or your daddy or your mama.
Pick up a camera and document it all. then send some of those photos
to us. We’ll put em up on our webpage.
We can do it together.
And if you just happen to be in Los Angeles this Wednesday night, come
hear us play at Spaceland. We’ll call down a blessing on this tired,
beautiful earth and all of us dancing on it. After all, Its ok to be
happy..
*and by kids, we mean, you know, women in their mid to late thirties…..
