A couple of weeks ago, Smith and Pyle trekked out to the desert to shack up at Pappy and Harriets with Trainwreck. Trainwreck is a band that well, fucking rocks. And there is a guy in said band named Kyle Glass who Shawnee has threatened to ditch me for. Smith and Kyle she would call it. Not too difficult to turn the P into a K she says, and you know, cut out my face and put his bald head in there where my frequently changing colored locks once were. After all, he is one half of the ever popular Tenacious D. And he plays a mean guitar. But I digress. Anyway to say the show was awesome would be an understatement, we have finally found ourselves a great band. Travis can play the shit out of anything. And Dutch well, that’s true for him too. And dang is he sexy whilst doing it. We also have Franz Stahl of Scream playing with us and to say he is a genius would be an understatement. Not to mention Danny our insane drummer who we stole from KD Lang. He is made of magic. I don’t know how we got so lucky. Last but not least, our friend Mia flew in from Dallas, second time in a month and has awarded herself smith and pyle fan of well, at least the first part of this year if not the whole dang year. So, we played Pappy and Harriets. I wore a bathing suit and Shawnee, 3 weeks post birth managed to look better than me in a sexy black number with mind you SHORTS. I don’t know how she does it. Dang, that girl has some good genes. And you should watch her eat. She eats slow. You know, really chews her food. Really tastes it. Me, I am a shoveler. I had 4 older siblings and you just had to jump in there or you would starve. Its kind of how I do pretty much everything. Like its on fire. Or like I’m on fire. But I digress. Mind you I could go on. Shawnee is my ying and I am her yang. At some point she may even discover my wang. Anyhoo, thank you Pappy and Harriets, for letting us play, and thank you to Chris Goss, who produced our album and also got on stage with us while we sang Sugar.. That was downright magical, Goss also promised he would produce our next album and we decided we are gonna do it this summer. Woo and Hoo. And also thank you Dave Catching and Hutch for a breakfast the next day at Rancho De La Luna that would make your mama feel shamed. We had omelettes and roasted potatoes. And yummy muffins from a place out in Joshua tree, I think called well, the Muffin house. The whole damn thing was by far the best weekend I’ve had in a long long time. I think we’re gonna do a magical mystery tour of West Virginia at the end of May, and who knows maybe we’ll even make it somewhere out your way. So, you better get off yer ass and come check us out. We will cast all kinds of blessings on you from the stage. Ok. We are off to write some more music. And you know, as always, make more magic. Xox Pyle, not Kyle, PYLE of Smith and Pyle Ps. Last time we toured West Virginia it got CRAZEEE. Thank you so much to L Dick West for making that trip happen. And also thank you to the W Virginia newspaper that ran the headline Actress and Friend make a band. That would be me Friend Pyle Ok. I’m done.
Happy New Year!

As we stomp 2009 off our boots and the sun comes up with all its promise we begin 2010 with a new song we recorded. Go to our myspace to hear “One Night Stand” penned and captured by our friend Tony Mangurian at his studio behind one of our favorite haunts-
The Mint. We look forward to being with all of you again, our next shows are coming up in March. We’re all in the same silly boat rowing, or sleeping, “gently down the stream,” and ”life is but a dream,” in between those moments we “wake up,” to the beauty or the horror of what’s real and respond. Live and learn. Good thing we have each other.”People only need people and nothing else. Don’t you forget it.” This is a line from the children’s book my daughter picked for us to read on new year’s eve. I said, “Pick us a good one to start the new year by!” and of ALL her many books, this was the jewel she brought to bed. I’m keeping my heart tuned to this simple station for 2010. I guess we’ll see how it went this time next year! Live and learn. And, for God’s sake, and anyone who loves us and just might depend on us, let’s keep it simple and uncomplicated! Calling down a blessing on us all…Shawnee

Smith and Pyle on Jay Leno Show
November 25, 2009 | Category: News | 3 Comments
Jay Leno stopped by Shawnee’s the other night where Smith and Pyle had gotten together for a Thanksgiving meal (Thanks Hugh!) and rehearsal. We were cooking up and and throwing down when Jay and his crew came a knockin (Jackson thought they were aliens) they visted awhile, sampled some of Hugh’s pork butt and sweet potatoes and then Jay joined us in the studio for a song. It’s aired tonight on Thanksgiving night and can be found on line at http://www.thejaylenoshow.com/
